Blueberry growers gain support for ITC action
Support for the U.S. blueberry industry is gaining momentum as more groups and elected officials call on the International Trade Commission to take action on import dumping.
Michigan Senators Debbie Stabenow and Gary Peters recently sent a letter to the ITC saying its important to fully assess the impact of foreign imports on the blueberry industry and maintain a domestic supply.
National Farmers Union President Rob Larew says growers’ operating returns fell more than 30 percent between 2015 and 2019, and the surge of low-priced imports along with their timing has had a devastating effect on U.S. growers, processors, and rural communities.
ITC’s vote on the issue is set to take place February 11th.
