Contract turkey growers eligible for CFAP2

Contract turkey growers have less than a month to apply for Coronavirus Food Assistance Program payments.

Minnesota Turkey Growers executive director Sarah Anderson says in January USDA made contract growers eligible for the same assistance provided to independent turkey producers through CFAP2.

“Up to that point they had not been made eligible for it. So that’s the important piece is that this is for the contract turkey growers, and they need to apply by February 26th in order to be eligible for the funds. And it’s for any cost that’s pandemic-related.”

Eligible contract growers can receive up to 80 percent of their revenue losses from January 1st to December 27th, 2020, compared to the same timeframe in 2019.

Anderson encourages producers to work with their USDA Service Center as applications are being taken while the Biden Administration reviews the CFAP program.
