Bob Evans restaurant chain announces FFA SAE national grant recipients

The Bob Evans restaurant chain is awarding supervised agriculture experience (SAE) grants to nine high school FFA members from across the country.

The Columbus, Ohio-based company evaluated nearly 6,000 applications and selected three SAE’s from Ohio, two from Missouri, and one each from Illinois, New York, Delaware, and South Carolina.

The CEO of Bob Evans says the restaurant’s namesake was both a farmer and entrepreneur, so they are excited to fund these innovative ag projects and student-run businesses.

The FFA recipients each receive $1,000 to help them achieve the goals outlined in their SAE.  Upon completion, they must submit a comprehensive report about their career development experience.

This year’s projects include expanding a vegetable plot by testing soil nutrient levels, and raising a variety of vegetables and herbs in a new greenhouse using a drip irrigation system.
