Biden issues EO directing USDA to gather farmer input for climate policies

President Biden recently issued an executive order instructing USDA to gather input from farmers and ranchers on climate-related federal policy.

American Farm Bureau president Zippy Duvall says he appreciates that the new administration is seeking input from agriculture.

He tells Brownfield AFBF has been working with other ag and environmental groups for more than a year to identify mutual principles and provide recommendations to Congress.

“We in America are so far ahead of the rest of the farmers and ranchers around the world as far as taking care of our climate. But of course our farmers never think it’s good enough. We’re always looking for ways to do things better.”

Duvall says as new strategies are implemented, it’s crucial for the government to listen to the people who will be affected the most.
