New intranasal vaccine to fight BRD now available
Beef and dairy cattle producers have another tool available to them to protect cattle from bovine respiratory disease.

“Bovilis Nasalgen 3-PMH is the first intranasal vaccine that comes with three viral components as well as two bacterial components that cover some of the key antigens and key pathogens that we worry about as we look at bovine respiratory disease.”
The vaccine protects against infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR), bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV), parainfluenza 3 (Pl3), Mannheimia haemolytica, and Pasturella multocida.
BRD is one of the costliest diseases to the beef industry and Parks says with calving and spring turnout just around the corner, this new vaccine couldn’t have hit the market at a better time. “This product is labeled for calves as young as 7-days of age,” he says. “So working with your veterinarian to make sure you’re utilizing a product that best fits into your program is very, very important.” Parks says they’ve also been impressed with the duration of immunity for the product with 6.5 months immunity on IBR and immunity for BRSV right around 11 weeks.
Bovilis Nasalgen 3-PMH is administered in a single 2-mL intranasal dose and contains a unique BluShadow diluent to clearly identify which animals have been vaccinated.
