ARA says “good vibe” with incoming Biden team

The Ag Retailers Association says the Biden transition team worked hard to include ag retailers from day one and they’re encouraged President Biden has said he will be guided by science.

ARA President and CEO Daren Coppock tells Brownfield Ag News the Biden team will push for more regulation than less and it’s important for them to know the impact of regulations on ag retailers, distributors and applicators.

“Our hope is, and we’re going to work to remind his team of this, that also applies in crop protection and fertilizer and all these other things we’re doing out there on the farm. Let’s be guided by the science in those as well.”

Coppock and other ARA leaders have met with key players in the administration including returning Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack and incoming EPA Administrator Michael Regan.

“And he (Regan) says, ‘my door’s going to be open, not just when we need something from you but ALL the time.’ We’ll be able to have an ongoing dialogue. And super good conversation with the incoming trade representative. Same kind of vibe.”

Coppock says the Waters of the U.S. rule IS expected to come up again.
