Minnesota Pork wants key tax policies protected as state works through budget challenges

The CEO of Minnesota Pork wants state legislators to protect gains made during the last two legislative sessions.

David Preisler tells Brownfield lawmakers have pushed forward some significant tax policy in recent years.

“And we know as we look at challenges in the budget that sometimes those things are looked at again.”

Preisler says that includes full Section 179 conformity, and maintaining a new property tax system that lessens the financial burden on farmers.

“As we look at funding capital projects, for example building schools, and how they are paid for.”

He says the system has been phased in to where the state’s general fund picks up more of the cost, and Minnesota Pork wants to ensure it stays that way.
