Corn leader says latest ethanol blending waivers cap off “four years of ridiculousness”
The President of the National Corn Growers Association says EPA’s granting of three ethanol blending waivers in the final hours of the Trump administration caps off “four years of ridiculousness.” John Linder says, “It seems like business per usual at EPA when it comes to waivers and undermining the RFS.”
John Linder tells Brownfield it is unclear if the NCGA will file legal action to try stopping the new Small Refinery Exemptions from happening, similar to what the Renewable Fuels Association is doing. “I’m not sure since we’ve landed into the new administration, and looking forward, they have very expressivly stated their support for the RFS.”
Linder says NCGA has had several post-election conversations with returning USDA Secretary-nominee Tom Vilsack and with President Biden’s pick for EPA Administrator. “Michael Regan from the EPA, the new yet-to-be ratified EPA director has been reaching out and has had several conversations, and we didn’t have to bring up the RFS. Michael Regan did, and spoke friendly toward it.”
Linder says NCGA is looking forward to working with the new administration on issues including higher-octane fuels and expanding corn and corn product markets.
