Biden signs executive order to rejoin Paris Climate pact
President Joe Biden has signed an executive order to rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement. Former President Trump pulled the U.S. out of the agreement at the start of his term.
In his inaugural address, Biden named “a climate in crisis” as one of the multiple challenges facing the U.S.
“Any one of these would be enough to challenge us in profound was. But the fact is, we face them all at once presenting this nation with one of the gravest responsibilities we’ve had.”
Incoming US Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack has said climate will be a major focus of the USDA. Senate Ag Committee Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow supports a voluntary climate change program, saying farms and forests can be part of the solution.
