Corn growers are committed to sustainability
Highlighting farmers commitment to sustainability is a major goal of the National Corn Growers Association in 2021.
NCGA President John Linder says growers implement sustainable practices on their farms every day.
“Corn farmers have continuously pushed boundaries of innovation by investing in practices aimed at improving productivity and adapting practices on their farms that conserve soil and organic matter, all of which reduce and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions,” he says.
He tells Brownfield NCGA is working to help producers participate in voluntary programs and earn extra income through carbon sequestration.
“Our policy at NCGA is to support farmers, providing benefits to the farmers and biofuel producer markets,” he says. “They can drive incentive from focusing on carbon sequestration and becoming carbon neutral or even carbon positive.”
A priority of NCGA is to position corn farmers as a solution to reducing greenhouse gas.
