Wet weather in issue in parts of Tennessee

A wet December in Tennessee created issues for producers in parts of the state.

The USDA says there are reports of saturated soils, keeping some cattle out of pasture and leading to increased hay feeding.

75% of cattle are called good to excellent with another 21% rated fair and 93% of the state has adequate to surplus hay and roughage.

72% of winter wheat is in good to excellent condition, up 4% on the month.

The USDA’s weekly crop progress and condition numbers resume in April.
