Michigan pesticide applicators granted extension

The Michigan Department of Agriculture has extended pesticide applicator credentials until the end of June.

An emergency rule from the department allows applicator licenses set to expire at the end of 2019 or during 2020 to be extended to June 30, 2021 and gives applicators an addition six months to renew their credentials.

Director Gary McDowell tells Brownfield moving pesticide applicator certifications online as part of COVID restructuring will likely continue past the pandemic.

“It would save us money, it would free up our inspectors to be out in the field where they need to be instead of giving tests and be much more convenient for our producers.”

More information about recertification programs and pesticide exams can be found on the ag department’s website.
