One person injured in Western Missouri grain bin explosion

The Bates County Sheriff says one person was hurt Thursday in an explosion at West Central Agri Services in Adrian, Missouri. Sheriff Chad Anderson tells Brownfield the explosion Thursday morning was in one of the MFA facility’s grain bins.

“We believe that it’s going to be the grain dust that is the source of the explosion,” Sheriff Anderson told Brownfield Ag News Thursday. “We do have some damage to the concrete grain bins, and a small debris field of about 50 yards away from the grain bins.”

The injured person was life-flighted to a Kansas City hospital. Although the injuries are serious, Amanda Cooper with MFA tells Brownfield she understood they are not life threatening.

Sheriff Anderson says there appears to be no foul play and there is no danger of a secondary explosion.

Adrian is about 50 miles south of Kansas City.
