Farmer endorses soybean based motor oil
A soybean grower says he couldn’t wait to get the new soy-based engine oil when it became available. Northeastern South Dakota farmer Todd Hanten tells Brownfield he’s on his third oil change in his Chevy SUV using the Biosynthetic Technologies product made from soybean oil.
“It just makes me happy to be using a product that is made from high-oleic soybeans that are grown right here by U.S. farmers and is also good for the environment,” Hanten told Brownfield Ag News.
Hanten, who is secretary of the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and is also a director on the United Soybean Board, says the oil is not only good for soybean demand and for the environment, it also performs well.
“It’s almost a no brainer to use it,” said Hanten. “The engine is much cleaner, and from the tests that they’ve done, it actually is [cleaner]; it has less oxidization than regular motor oil and has benefits beyond environmentally friendly.”
Among other places, the motor oil is available on the Biosynthetic Technologies website as well as on Amazon.
