CFAP2 still has $1 billion in its account

Over the past month, USDA distributed almost an additional $2 billion in direct farmer payments through the second Coronavirus Food Assistance Program and approved nearly 200,000 more applications

As of December 27th, the agency has approved nearly $13 billion in payments for more than 880,000 producers for CFAP2.  Enrollment closed at the beginning of the month and slightly more than a billion dollars still remains in the program.

Top payments have gone for corn, cattle, sales commodities, soybeans, and milk.

Sales commodities include specialty crops, aquaculture, nursery crops and floriculture, and other commodities not included in the price trigger and flat-rate categories.

Farmers in Iowa continue to receive the most payments from the CFAP2 program with more than $1.1 billion, followed by California at $987 million, Nebraska with more than $838 million, Minnesota with $814 million, and Illinois with almost $789 million.

Other Brownfield states totals for CFAP2 include Arkansas with $180 million, Indiana with nearly $413 million, Michigan with nearly $338 million, Missouri at almost $412 million, Ohio at almost $337 million, South Dakota at almost $552 million, Tennessee with $155 million, and Wisconsin with nearly $515 million.
