RFA hearing good things about Biden’s pick for EPA administrator

The Renewable Fuels Association is eager to learn more about President-elect Biden’s nominee for EPA administrator, Michael Regan.

RFA CEO Geoff Cooper tells Brownfield the agency touches the ethanol industry in a lot of different ways.

“We don’t know a whole lot about Mr. Regan, but everything we’ve heard from those who do know him (and) work in the ag industry in the state of North Carolina say he’s a very fair-minded guy, has always had an open door. Very receptive to hearing their concerns and arguments.”

He says Regan will have some marching orders from Biden.

“With regard to combatting climate change and reducing carbon emissions. And we think the RFS and other programs under EPA’s purview will help them accomplish that mission. So we’re looking forward to working with Mr. Regan should he be confirmed.”

Regan is secretary of North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality and formerly worked at EPA as an air quality specialist.
