Nebraska’s farmers fought through 2020’s challenges

Nebraska ag director Steve Wellman

The coronavirus pandemic created some big challenges for Nebraska ag industry in 2020.

But Nebraska director of agriculture Steve Wellman says, as usual, the ag sector muscled through those challenges.

“Agriculture is the heart and soul of Nebraska, and our 45,900 farm and ranch families keep pumping life throughout our state year after year,” Wellman says. “They did it once again this year, by delivering an abundant, safe, healthy and sustainable supply of food, feed and fuel for us—and for consumers around the world.”

Wellman says a silver lining to the pandemic is that it reminded both the farming and non-farming public how interconnected they really are.
