Time running out for Congress to pass spending bill, COVID package

Congress has just a few hours left to come up with a way to keep the government funded and potentially pass more COVID relief.

Lawmakers continue to hash out a short-term stopgap spending bill ahead of a midnight deadline, while arguments over a large stimulus package erupted Thursday night.

Minnesota Ag Commissioner Thom Petersen tells Brownfield he’s anxious to see details on the $13 billion reportedly targeted for agriculture.

“Biofuels is probably our number one priority (because) the ethanol industry has been hit really hard, and we’re looking at that and working with our congressional delegation in putting together a package.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday afternoon that negotiations were going “fine” but offered no timetable for when a deal might be reached.
