Tyson fires Iowa pork plant managers over virus betting incident

Tyson Foods has fired seven top managers at its Waterloo, Iowa pork plant over allegations they bet on how many workers would get infected during last spring’s coronavirus outbreak.

Tyson’s action follows a month-long investigation into the incident. The allegation was contained in lawsuits filed by the families of plant employees who died from the virus.

The lawsuits also accuse plant managers of pressuring employees to keep working, even if they were sick, and waiting too long to shut down the plant as the virus spread.
