2020 dairy exports on pace for record

The U.S. Dairy Export Council says dairy exports were record high in October and on pace for a record year with whey as a key driver.

October dairy exports increased more than 16 percent in volume and more than six percent in value.  Shipments are also up 16 percent for the first 10 months of the year and up 12 percent in value.

Whey product exports for October saw a 64 percent increase over 2019, with China accounting nearly half of sales.

Nonfat dry milk/skim milk powder exports were up nine percent again with China and Southeast Asia making up most of the increase.

USDEC says record-high cheese prices caught up with exports which fell 13 percent in October and was the lowest monthly volume in more than two years.
