Illinois winter wheat rated 70% good to excellent

Illinois winter wheat conditions improved last week with warmer than normal weather.

The USDA reports as of Sunday 96% of the crop has emerged with a rating of 70% good to excellent, up 4 percentage points from the previous week.

Statewide temperatures averaged 44.8 degrees, 3.6 degree above normal while precipitation averaged less than an inch.

The USDA’s final Illinois Crop Progress and Condition Report for 2020 comes out on November 29th.
