City of Muscatine schedule for Thanksgiving holiday

Administrative offices at Muscatine City Hall will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, for the Thanksgiving holiday. City administrative offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 30.

The offices for Community Development and Housing at Muscatine City Hall (the second floor), along with the offices for Parks and Recreation are currently closed to the public until further notice. Public access to the Finance Department and Human Resources will continue for the time being, but access to Administration will be by appointment only. (See earlier story)

The City of Muscatine public transit system, MuscaBus, will not operate on Thursday, Nov. 26, or Friday, Nov. 27. MuscaBus will resume their normal operations on Saturday, Nov. 28. Please remember that a mask is required to ride MuscaBus.

The Muscatine Transfer Station will be closed on Thursday and Friday, but will be open 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (last load on scale at 11:45 a.m.) on Saturday, Nov. 28. The Transfer Station is also open 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday (last load on the scale at 3:15 p.m.).

The Compost Facility at the Muscatine Transfer Station will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, but will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. The Compost Facility is also open 12-5 p.m. Sunday-Friday. Please note that the facility will close for the season on Sunday, Dec. 6.

REFUSE COLLECTION – Curbside refuse and yard waste will not be collected on Thursday, Nov. 26, or on Friday, Nov. 27. All materials for collection can be placed out for pick up after 4 p.m. the day before collection and no later than 5 a.m. on the day of collection.

· Residents on the Thursday route will have their refuse and yard waste collected a day earlier, on Wednesday (Nov. 25), along with the normal Wednesday route.

· Residents on the Friday route will have their refuse and yard waste collected on Monday, Nov. 30, along with the regular Monday route.

RECYCLING COLLECTION – There will be no curbside recycling collection on Thursday, Nov. 26. All materials for collection can be placed out for pick up after 4 p.m. the day before collection and no later than 5 a.m. on the day of collection.

· Residents on the Thursday “B” Route will have their recycling collected on Friday, Nov. 27.

· Residents on the Friday “B” Route will have their recycling collected on Saturday, Nov. 30.

· Regular collections will resume on Monday, Dec. 3.

Additional office closures and schedule changes for the Thanksgiving holiday include:

Muscatine Art Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and will resume regular hours Friday, Nov. 27. The Art Center is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday except Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Please remember that a mask is required inside the Art Center.

Muscatine Fire Department administrative offices closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27. Stations will be staffed. The administrative offices will resume normal hours on Monday, Nov. 30.

Muscatine Police Department administrative offices closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27. Patrol and station masters will be on duty. The administrative offices will resume normal hours on Monday, Nov. 30.

Musser Public Library and HNI Community Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and will resume regular hours Friday, Nov. 27. The facility is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, and 1-3 p.m. on Sunday. Please remember that a mask is required inside the facility.

The Parking Division of the Department of Finance and Records will operate under weekend/holiday regulations.

Department of Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27. Parks and Recreation administrative offices are currently closed to the public. A staff member will respond as quickly as possible.

The Muscatine Dog Park, Muscatine Pollinator Park, all City of Muscatine parks, and the Muscatine Trail System are open and available for public use. Citizens are urged to follow CDC guidelines of social distancing, wearing a mask, and personal hygiene while enjoying City of Muscatine recreational opportunities.

The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and will resume regular hours Friday (sunrise to sunset), weather permitting.

Department of Public Works administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27. Operations in the 10 divisions within Public Works will also be suspended Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27. If you need assistance, call 563-263-8933 and leave a message. A member of the on-call staff will respond as soon as possible. The administrative offices will resume normal hours on Monday, Nov. 30. Normal division operations will also resume on Monday, Nov. 30.

Water and Resource Recovery Facility (formerly the Water Pollution Control Plant) administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27. The administrative offices and the Laboratory will resume normal operations on Monday, Nov. 30.
