USDA says Indonesian dairy event increased exports

The USDA says a dairy event just over a year ago has led to record U.S. dairy exports to Indonesia.  A report by USDA’s Garrett McDonald says the U.S.-Indonesia Dairy Roundtable held in Jakarta during September of 2019 paved the way for over 160-thousand metric tons of U.S. dairy products for the Indonesian market with a value of more than 346-million dollars.  The report says the U.S. also jumped from having 14% of the Indonesian dairy market to 25% in the last 13 months.

The Jakarta meeting in 2019 was a joint effort by the USDA’s Foreign Ag Service and the U.S. Dairy Export Council.  Thirteen dairy exporters and producers met with sixty Indonesian importers, processors, and retailers.  USDA says the new relationships have led to accelerated sales of U.S. whey, lactose, non-fat dry milk, and cheese.
