South Dakota corn harvest 95% complete

The corn harvest in South Dakota is down to the last five percent.

In its latest weekly crop report, the USDA says at 95 percent complete, this year’s pace is well ahead of last year’s 49 percent and the five-year average of 80 percent.

The sunflower harvest has progressed to 81 percent done, compared to 48 percent a year ago and 75 percent normally.

And with nearly all the winter wheat acres emerged, 67 percent is rated good to excellent.
