Groups want COVID vaccine prioritized for food workers

The North American Meat Institute and other food and retail groups are asking President Trump to prioritize essential food workers for COVID-19 vaccines when they’re available.

In their letter last week, the groups say they are grateful Trump recognized workers in the food supply chain as “essential” at the start of the pandemic because they have been on the front lines of keeping the food supply chain running.

They say prioritizing vaccinations for food, ag, retail and consumer packaged goods workers will keep workers healthy and “ensure that agricultural and food supply chains remain operating.”
