Work still needs to be done post-election
Election Day has come and gone, and an ag economist says the work isn’t over. University of Missouri’s Scott Brown says there are some serious issues that need to be addressed post-election.
“We still don’t have a FY21 federal budget in place,” he says. “We just had a Continuing Resolution (CR) that gets us through the early part of December. We’re going to have to come back and do something or talk about a government shutdown.”
He tells Brownfield another round of federal stimulus hands in the balance.
“Are we going to see another round of federal stimulus after the elections,” he asks. “How long does that take to happen? Does it happen in Lame Duck or does it happen in the next legislation session? Those are a lot of questions to be answered.”
And Brown says there’s still a lot of uncertainty. “That’s not so much about who wins or who loses,” he says. “It’s just things that have to be done regardless of who is in charge.”
