October ends with wintery field conditions
Michigan farmers pushed through harvesting last week despite cold, rain and snow.
The USDA says 53 percent of corn is harvested for grain and condition remained at 65 percent good to excellent. Soybeans are 79 percent harvested. Nearly all winter wheat has been planted and condition is 72 percent good to excellent.
As of Sunday, 82 percent of sugarbeets were harvested while dry beans were 97 percent finished.
