A central Illinois farmer says aside from the typical breakdowns, harvest 2020 has been seamless.

Jason Lay farms corn and soybeans in Bloomington-Normal. He says from a yield perspective, “I’m pleasantly surprised with how some of the corn has performed and got more of a negative surprise with some of the beans. But with the growing season that we had, overall, it has been pretty good.”

As for harvest progress in his area, Lay says, “Most of the beans are out, about 95% done and I would mirror that. For corn I need about two good days and that is probably pretty typical for most of the area.”

Lay spoke during the Bayer Crop Science Future of Farming Dialogue this week.
