Minnesota harvest pace among fastest in the nation

The harvest pace in Minnesota is among the fastest in the nation.

Joel Schreurs, who farms in southwest Minnesota, says they got rolling on some earlier maturity soybeans about a month ago.

“They were probably our better beans. The ones we had that were later were average I would say. And then we had some that had a fair amount of hail on.”

Schreurs moved right into corn and tells Brownfield the crop was fairly dry.

“I’d say the only issue we had was trying to get the dryer set low enough because of very high temperatures during the day in order to get it out fast enough. But we wrapped up last Saturday.”

The Lincoln County farmer says fall tillage is almost done, but snow earlier this week is making it “trying at best.”

Nearly all of Minnesota’s soybean acres are harvested and about 70 percent of the corn is out.
