Headway reported in stimulus talks

Coronavirus stimulus talks this week between House Speaker Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Mnuchin have made headway but Senate Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly doesn’t want a vote before the election.

Arkansas Senator John Boozman, in line to be the top Republican on the Senate Ag Committee next year, told Agri-Pulse a new deal could slip into the lame duck session but he sees bipartisan support for ag provisions.

Boozman says USDA has enough funding now to address farmers’ current needs, including payments in the second round of the CFAP program.
