National FFA officer team prepares for virtual convention

The virtual National FFA Convention kicks off next week. National FFA President Kolesen McCoy says the national officer team is in Fort Worth, Texas, preparing for convention.

“We’ve been spending time going through our session scripts, pre-recording a couple of interactions with FFA members and supporters, and really finding ways to bring the feeling of convention to any household or classroom that our convention is going to be broadcasted to,” he says.

He says although he’ll miss having an in-person convention, the virtual event will provide equal opportunities to all FFA members and supporters.

“This is the first time that as a teacher or as a supporter of an FFA member, you can provide them with the same experience that every other FFA member can have across the country,” he says. “Sometimes we have the barriers of travel and the barriers of finance to be able to come to convention, but this has really opened up a whole new world of engagement.”

McCoy says FFA members, advisors, and supporters will be able to explore a virtual expo and hear leading voices in research and technology in the FFA Blue Room. People who register will also have access to more than 50 hours of content including virtual workshops and tours.

The convention will be held Oct. 27-29. Information about live sessions can be found at convention.ffa.org.
