Half of Missouri’s corn crop harvested

The USDA says Missouri’s harvest made progress last week thanks to warmer and dryer than normal conditions. 
Fifty-one percent of Missouri’s corn crop has been harvested, nearly 10 percent ahead of last year. Corn is rated 78 percent good to excellent.   

Soybean harvest is almost a quarter complete, 10 percent ahead of last year. Seventy – two percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent with almost all of the crop turning color and 77 percent dropping leaves.        

Cotton harvest is 19 percent complete with the crop rated 45 percent good to excellent.  Missouri’s rice harvest is three-quarters complete but more than 10 percent behind last year. 

The winter wheat crop progressed to 26 percent planted with seven-percent of the crop emerged.
