ITC starting blueberry import investigation

The U.S. Trade Representative is asking the International Trade Commission to investigate how increased imports of blueberries have harmed the domestic market.

This request is the first action of the Trump Administration’s plan to support producers of seasonal and perishable fruits and vegetables announced last month.

The Commission will publish a notice of its findings and hold public hearings on the matter before next steps are taken in the investigation.

Congressman Bill Huizenga of Michigan, who’s region covers one the largest blueberry production areas in the country, says it’s a step in the right direction to help level the playing field for all specialty crop growers.
