Syngenta Group acquires leading biologicals company, Valagro
Syngenta Group has announced the acquisition of Valagro, a leading biologicals company.
Corey Huck, head of global biologicals with Syngenta, says Valagro has a well-established portfolio in biostimulants and micronutrients. He says the acquisition positions Syngenta as a leader in the rapidly growing biologicals market.
“It’s a 40-year track record company in innovation—and a pioneer, really, in biologicals,” Huck says. “It’s an area where, at Syngenta, we’re really in our infancy, with just a small biologicals business. This really advances our position.”
Huck says they expect the biologicals market to more than double in size over the next ten years.
“We estimate the market today, globally, is around four billion dollars—and growing to something that looks like ten billion by 2030. That really pales in comparison to the large seed and crop protection markets that we’re accustomed to but the growth rate here is really impressive.”
Huck says Valagro, which is headquartered in Italy, will continue to operate as an independent brand within the Syngenta Crop Protection business.
