Recipients of meat processing grants announced

The Arkansas Department of Agriculture has announced the recipients of the $5-million in funding for the Arkansas Meat Processing Grant Program.  The funding is provided by the Arkansas CARES Act Steering Committee and the Arkansas Legislative Council.

Wes Ward, Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture says the funding will help address the lack of local, small-scale meat processing capacity in Arkansas that limited producers’ ability to meet consumer demand during the COVID-19 related disruptions.  He says expanded processing capacity will benefit producers, consumers, and rural communities.

The Department received 45 applications requesting a total of more than $30 million in grant funding. Selected recipients will receive 79.7 percent of the amount requested up to a cap of $500,000 per application.

The following 15 facilities were selected for funding: A&C Meat Company
B&R Meat Processing
CR Custom Meat Processing
Cypress Valley Meat Company
Deaton Slaughterhouse
JACO Meats
JD Custom Meat Processing
Key’s Family Butcher Shop
Miller’s Quality Processors of Arkansas

Natural State Processing
Ramsey’s Red River Smokehouse
Ride Runners Processing
