MU Extension: CFAP-2 easier for cattle producers to apply

An ag business specialist says cattle producers will have an easier time applying for coronavirus relief funds under CFAP2 than they did during the first round. Wesley Tucker is with the University of Missouri Extension…

“It is for April 16th through August 31st. You look at that time period and figure out when you had the maximum number of market animals because this program is only for market animals.”

Tucker says this second round of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program will pay $55 per head. But, it excludes breeding stock.

“Things that are considered breeding stock are cows that have already calved or bulls that have been put in service. They do actually allow beef heifers that have been held for replacement but that have not calved yet still qualify.”

Tucker says producers will probably get paid on some of the same calves they turned in on the first round of CFAP but this is a separate, second round and they ARE eligible to receive a second payment. Forms can be filled out online or by calling a local FSA office. The deadline to apply for CFAP2 is December 11th.
