National FFA Organization launches Agricultural Education for All initiative

The National FFA Organization has announced a new initiative to ensure agricultural education is widely available and accessible.

The Agricultural Education for All roadmap outlines strategies FFA is taking to support inclusion, diversity, and equity.

The organization says it will create a dedicated inclusion, diversity, and equity staff position, offer additional gender identity options on all forms, and develop an Agricultural Education for All curriculum and online platform.

National FFA CEO Mark Poeschl says FFA is building the next generation of leaders and the world needs leaders with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and identities. He says making a welcoming environment is important for FFA and the agriculture industry.

The National FFA Organization says it will also relaunch the H.O. Sargent Award to recognize individuals who promote inclusion, diversity, and equity in ag education and train educators to be Agricultural Education for All facilitators.

Dr. Roger Cleveland, director of the Center for Research on the Eradication of Education Disparities, helped develop the initiative. He says the roadmap has a “systematic focus” that will transform the organization.
