Linder will continue advocating for the renewable fuel standard

National Corn Growers Association President John Linder says ensuring that the EPA upholds the law of the Renewable Fuel Standard is a top priority.

The EPA denied 54 of the 68 pending gap small refinery exemption petitions in September but hasn’t yet decided on the 14 remaining petitions.

“It’s the law— it was in the original RFS and the Tenth Circuit Court agreed with us so that’s what we need to remind him everyday that we have to obey the law,” he says.

Linder says he’s had good communication with EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler.

“I’m pleasantly impressed,” he says. “…they are open to our conversations and our dialogue. I’ve had a conference call with Administrator Wheeler, I’ve met Administrator Wheeler on a farm this year and next week I have an opportunity to meet with him again on a farm in Ohio.”

He says biofuel plants are feeling a lot of pain from demand destruction and NCGA is looking at ways to support them and work closely with their associates.
