Wisconsin corn for silage harvest advances

The USDA says the corn for silage harvest jumped to 62% complete, 28 days faster than a year ago and 11 days ahead of the five-year average, with 91% dented and 49% mature, while 77% of the crop is rated good to excellent, down 1% on the week.
79% of soybeans are in good to excellent shape, steady with last week, with 90% coloring and 56% dropping leaves, both faster than normal.
48% of winter wheat is planted and 16% has emerged, also ahead of the respective five-year averages.
The fourth cutting of alfalfa is 78% complete, 17 days faster than usual.
62% of pastures are called good to excellent, 3% more than a week ago.
