Tennessee harvest progress: corn 12% and soybeans 2% complete
Drier conditions helped farmers return to fields this past week. Corn harvest is 12 percent complete and soybean harvest is 2 percent complete. And while harvest continues, some growers in the western part of the state are waiting for crops to dry down a little more.
Seventy-five percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent with 24 percent dropping leaves. Cotton is rated 65 percent good to excellent with 29 percent of bolls opening. Sixty-five percent of tobacco has been cut.
Sixty-four percent of pastures are rated good to excellent and 1 percent of the winter wheat crop has been planted.
Ninety percent of Topsoil and ninety-one percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
