Smoke from wildfires burning in California, Oregon and Washington state have reached eastern Iowa, impacting air quality and causing some brilliant sunsets.

At least 35 people have died in the fires that have burned over 4.6 million acres in the West, the New York Times reports.

For eastern Iowa, expect to see more high level smoke this week, says the National Weather Service Quad Cities forecast office.
