Wisconsin’s ag department selects Agriculture Youth Council members

Wisconsin ag officials have selected fifteen members for their new Agriculture Youth Council.  Secretary-designee Randy Romanski says they are excited to engage with these young people to promote agricultural career opportunities, share resources available for farmers, and discuss agricultural policy development. Romanski says, “We’ve got pretty good distribution of students from around the state. Really, a lot of good, interested young people who applied for the program, so it was difficult to get it down to fifteen members.”

Romanski says after initial organizational work, he believes that first meeting will be interesting and informative. “Then I think we really want to hear from them, engage them. I think it’s good for us to kick off that first meeting with expectations. What do they expect or what do they want to get out of this meeting? And then, from our perspective, from the Department of Ag, Trade, and Consumer Protection, what are we hoping to provide to them and what are we hoping to learn from them?”

The new Youth Council members are:

  • Chad Achenbach, Eastman
  • Haley Beukema, New Richmond
  • Hannah Dahl, Columbus
  • Charles Fahey, Sussex
  • Kendra Goplin, Osseo
  • Samantha Hammiller, Burlington
  • Abigail Helbach, Amherst
  • Sophia Larson, Reedsburg
  • Adaire MacSwain, Hudson
