Little fluctuation in Illinois cash rents from 2019 to 2020

A USDA report shows cash rents for Illinois cropland this year dropped slightly from 2019 while irrigated cropland and pastureland saw an uptick.

USDA state statistician Mark Schleusener says the state average for non-irrigated cropland is $221 per acre, down $3 from 2019.

“Rental rates for non-irrigated cropland ranged from less than $100 per acre in Johnson, Pope and Williamson counties to more than $290 per acre in Sangamon and Macon counties.”

The state average rental rate for irrigated cropland is $243 per acre, up $2 from last year.

Pastureland rentals average $42 per acre in Illinois, up $1 from 2019.
