Harvest continues in Arkansas despite recent rain

Rice and corn harvests continue in Arkansas despite last week’s moderate to heavy precipitation.  Rice is 5 percent harvested, 40 percent of the crop is mature, and 95 percent is headed.  Sixty-six percent of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Corn harvest is 14 percent complete with 79 percent of the crop mature.

Eighty-six percent of the cotton crop is rated good to excellent and 49 percent is opening bolls.  Soybeans are rated 69 percent good to excellent with 8 percent mature and 14 percent dropping leaves.

Ninety-three percent of peanuts are rated good to excellent with 100 percent pegging. 

Alfalfa is rated 42 percent good with 92 percent of the second cutting completed.  Vegetables are rated 63 percent good to excellent

Ninety-one percent of Topsoil and 86 percent of Subsoil are called adequate to surplus.
