Minnesota rolls out Grain Storage Facility Safety Cost-Share Program

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is rolling out a cost-share program to make grain bin safety more affordable.

Ag Commissioner Thom Petersen says MDA is thankful legislators appropriated $50,000 so the Grain Storage Facility Safety program can provide $400 per bin or silo to add fall protection systems, air quality monitoring systems, and personal protective equipment to reduce the risk of accidents.

The program reimburses up to 75 percent of the cost to buy, ship, and install eligible safety equipment.

Funds will be awarded on a first-come, first served basis, and MDA will be accepting applications through June 30, 2021.
