Missouri crops hold steady moving closer to harvest

The USDA says cool, dry weather last week led to mixed progress in Missouri’s crops.

The corn crop is rated 73 percent good to excellent condition.

Ninety-one percent of the crop has reached the dough stage, eight percent ahead of last year.  Sixty-nine percent of the crop has dented.

Seventy-four percent of Missouri soybeans are rated good to excellent with 80 percent setting pods.

Cotton improved to 50 percent rated good and squaring reached 93 percent, five percent above last year.

Sixty-nine percent of rice is in good to excellent condition and 86 percent of the crop has headed.
