Illinois crop conditions hold steady as harvest inches closer
Illinois crop conditions continue to hold steady with a just a few weeks before harvest is expected to be in full swing.
As of Sunday, USDA rates Illinois corn 72% good to excellent. 93% of the crop is in the dough stage with 47% dented, both numbers are within five percentage points of the five-year-average.
Soybeans are rated 73% good to excellent with 92% of the crop setting pods, three points ahead of average.
The third cutting of alfalfa hay by Illinois farmers is 69% complete and pasture conditions are considered 68% good to excellent.
