Chief ag negotiator says ag relationship with China is strong

U.S. chief ag negotiator Gregg Doud says while reports of tensions between the U.S. and China dominate the headlines, the agricultural relationship between the two countries is strong.

“We have made enormous changes in our trading relationship with China, in agriculture, as a result of the phase one agreement,” Doud says. “There is a great ability to talk through things now and work things out that we’ve never had before with China.”

Doud says he is in contact with his Chinese counterpart on a regular basis, “if not every day, several times a week—the dialogue and the rapport is very good.”

Doud spoke during a webinar hosted by Nebraska Congressman Adrian Smith.
