USDA recruiting for urban agriculture county committees

USDA’s Farm Service Agency is accepting nominations for county committees focused on urban agriculture.

USDA has used county committees since the 1930’s to represent farmers and outline priorities at the local level. Undersecretary Bill Northey says these new committees, under the direction of the 2018 Farm Bill, will help the agency better support the needs of urban producers and promote urban, indoor, and other emerging production practices.

The first five urban ag committees will be in Albuquerque, NM; Cleveland, OH; Philadelphia, PA; Portland, OR; and Richmond, VA with five others to be announced this fall.

Nominations for committee members will be accepted September 8th through October 2nd. Click here for more information.
