China leads the way for weekly export inspections
The USDA says China was the biggest destination for old crop U.S. corn, sorghum, and soybeans during the week ending August 6th. The 2020/21 marketing year started June 1st for wheat, while 2019/20 runs through the end of August for beans, corn, and sorghum.
Wheat came out at 379,949 tons, down 176,205 from the week ending July 30th and 330,760 lower than the week ending August 8th, 2019. The main destinations for the week were Japan and the Philippines. Just over two months into the 2020/21 marketing year, wheat inspections are 5,066,993 tons, compared to 4,956,702 in 2019/20.
Corn was reported at 1,150,979 tons, up 424,322 from the previous week and 419,793 higher than this time last year. The top destinations were China and Mexico. With less than a month remaining in the 2019/20 marketing year, corn inspections are 39,137,894 tons, compared to 45,658,174 late in 2018/19.
Soybeans were pegged at 635,665 tons, 78,058 more than the prior week, but 309,207 less than a year ago. The primary destinations were China and the Netherlands. So far, this marketing year, soybean inspections are 40,015,189 tons, compared to 42,326,500 last year.
Sorghum totaled 38,959 tons, a decrease of 143,520 on the week and 45,570 on the year. China was the sole listed destination. 2019/20 sorghum inspections are 4,569,611 tons, compared to 1,942,653 in 2018/19.
